Fastnbulbous They deal in polished prog pop, with elements of 80s Genesis and Rush, and even similarities with British bands like XTC and Field Music. The centerpiece is a 20-minute suite in three movements that is at times a bit unwieldy with ambient build-up taking too damn long. But the payoff is some pretty sweet guitar playing. They don’t quite shred, but they certainly could, and the restraint creates an interesting tension. | fastnbulbous.com/progasms-progressive-rock-rundown/ Favorite track: The Place Where the Sun Never Sets.

All the Way 03:33
I go, we go all the way Take my hand and fly away Take heed, listen and obey They’re not easy words to say I could be the captain’s master I could be the one you’re always after When spirits lure you to the sky I could be the one who’s with you when you die I’ll show, I’ll show you the way Upside, back and then decay I’ll lead, I’ll lead you astray I don’t need you anyway I could be the captain’s master I could be the one you’re always after When everything is out of sight You should ask “what ever happened to the light?” You should be worried about anyone but me I will be nowhere in no time with nobody Nihilist non-entity dying to be free All the way empty like nothing that you’ll never see Please you should worry about anyone but me I will be nowhere in no time with nobody I’ll guide you through And by and by I’ll sing for you A lullaby I go, we go all the way

Deexister 06:06
Little sister, I once promised you that if I ever found a way to end the world I'd be sure you wouldn't suffer Deexister is the title I have chosen for myself as I lie down curled up next to a candle snuffer And it frees me to know You're in good hands now Oh my brother, I once told you that my mission was of mercy although it proved a bitter pill to swallow Father, mother, when you taught me that each sparrow was an egg before it ever flew, the message wasn't hollow And you, my lover, know that when a record plays the needle finds its way along a certain groove that it must always follow And it frees me to know You're in good hands now I fell asleep to feed the flowers one day So they would grow so high and far away And the world is all I have Each transistor in a radio plays the song a little louder so you can hear the wavelengths that are narrow Deexister is the title I have chosen for myself as the end draws near and I become a sparrow (You're in good hands now)

Sky Blue 04:30
Wait for yourself I'm still believing Stuck in time with you in tears And it's more than I could ever ask for Melancholy shine I can't define Out of sun and out of daylight I'm out of moonlight Without a night-light Out of style and out of free love Without a true love In a dream undreamed of I could look through a window I could look through a piece of glass I could tell you what's going on outside But as soon as I let you know Just as soon as I speak, alas! You will know that you've died Faith will remind you everything is true If time were a color it would be sky blue Transparent lines Have got no direction It doesn't mean they didn't try They're out of sun and day and moonlight They're out of starlight They're out of starlight I could look through a window I could look through a piece of glass I could tell you what's going on outside But as soon as I let you know Just as soon as it comes to pass Then you’ll know that you've died Faith will remind you everything is true If time were a color it would be sky blue Blazing in the bottom of a diamond flame Never the same Viewed from above We are like starlight Strange dreams reflected in your eyes Held captive by an angry star I hear your soul give off a sigh 'Cause after all that's what dreams are Give me a lighter and a box of matches, flint and steel I'll decide just how this fire will be started Flames make it brighter in the home my mind has been for you We can watch it burning down and see it glow sky blue

In the End 05:02
Quiet night time Fears no darkness As the moon sings sweet silver beams to the ground In the end, the world will change it's colors Watercolors fading up to the sky Look back from wherever you are And wish upon a star In the end Forever is no word for the future For the future If fire could burn the air when nothing else was there Then would flames consume our world and would we even care Looking back from wherever we are In portraits of fleeing stars In the end Forever is no word for the future For the future The sky will stretch until it breaks And all moves far away And grains of sand are wrent in twain And nothing will remain Hey, when the lights escape the sky They show us the ways that they are not like you and I It was never intended this way but it will be in the end I could not have thought up a better death for my dear friend Colors shifting make me feel at home Quiet night time All around you Softens the blow of the end

Scorching heat over sandy plains The wolves are howling my name Still I don't answer their bloodthirsty cries Fever's getting harder to bear The wind won't whisper in my ear No one to tell me what it is to be wise I'll keep listening for a signal in the breeze To direct me to the place where the sun never sets I'll keep questioning my purpose constantly Until the point is reached and the static clears from my head Isolation brings me closer to the truth But I got no one to tell it to My thoughts are my only company Longing for shelter and a brighter setting Different from the dark where I have been dwelling Moving from the desert into the community I'll keep listening for a signal in the breeze To direct me to the place where the sun never sets I'll keep questioning my purpose constantly Until the point is reached and the static clears from my head No life no love or pain No colors in the picture frame No sunlight, no sunshine, so sunshine No tears no loss or joy No happiness to fill the void Too numb to feel alive I'll keep listening for a signal in the breeze To direct me to the place where the sun never sets I'll keep questioning my purpose constantly Until the point is reached and the static clears from my head

Spin, little guardian of peace And shatter inertia's bones Your gift must be some kind of curse, I think Careening through spaces unknown And I must be some kind of madman Like a fish that fries in a bad pan I could never tell what you thought of my plan Were they tears of sadness or pride then When there was no wind I would think of you Stillness blew my mind into little green smithereens When the wind would blow I’d still think of you Mysteries unfolded I never knew, never knew Grin, little lover of voids To terrify future's collapse Help me to reinforce home from afar And help my words fill in the gaps Soldiers in places away Have so many battles to fight Wiping the tears from the sadness of eyes With sabres that shine in the light And I must be some kind of madman Like a fish that fries in a bad pan I could never tell what you thought of my plan Were they tears of sadness or pride then When there was no wind I would think of you Stillness blew my mind into little green smithereens When the wind would blow I’d still think of you Mysteries unfolded I never knew, never knew And The Hummingbird flaps its wings To cross the coldest space and time And each beat has hopes to bring A message from warrior to wife Morse was right about one thing Dots and lines can hold anything But here’s the thing about far off radio Dancing fingers that tell you hello Sending words through an engine’s rumble Loud to echo a captain’s mumble Like the spell of a stranger danger Cast by weeping, the mind’s derranger Distant discourse of vast emotion One direction through locomotion misses you As time slows down A second passes every year I fear I’ll drown Within the thickness of the clear And I must be some kind of madman Like a fish that fries in a bad pan I could never tell what you thought of my plan Were they tears of sadness or pride then When there was no wind I would think of you Stillness blew my mind into little green smithereens When the wind would blow I’d still think of you Mysteries unfolded I never knew, never knew

I feel you, I feel you Wrap your arms around me In you, my light I can believe On high you shine Diamond in the sky Upon me shed your light divine Sunshine

Good morning, good morning to you I see clouds in your sleepy eyes And I plumb their weary depths Looking for cracks in blue skies Wake up, wake up and look around You see everything so clearly Every revolution makes Darkened earth appear less bleary ‘Cause lately I feel that I am going nowhere Guide me, guide me with everlasting light Show me all of the answers I can't find Only you can lift the veil off me Show me your love, teach me how to be kind ‘Cause lately I feel that we are going nowhere And you won't say goodnight

The world is wide when I am by your side But you remain so far away from me If I could run through the stars to the sun To your arms I would fly ever fiercely Standing on your soapbox feeling so justified Though an empty bed you crawl into every night Like fire and water we should never be Draw your lines in earth and in the air Your bowstring is drawn and arching over everyone Like a hunter stalking prey, silent as prayer Standing on your soapbox feeling so justified Though an empty bed you crawl into every night For every wrong you make yourself believe that you're right And the emptiness will expand and fill your life Now let your arrows fly and send my body to the horizon A wound that tore us asunder Sits now a scar amongst the stars Obscures the “here” from the “out there” Deep love becomes trenches of war This world is just so wide Please let your arrows fly An emptiness so wide You let your arrows fly I feel you Wrap your arms around me In you, my light, I can believe On high you shine Diamond in the sky Upon me shed your light divine Sunshine

I thought I could see a light I dreamed so hard that I died Smeared across the purple sky Were the fingers of past lives Wiping those tearful goodbyes From mouths too tired to sigh I will hold them in my mind Until I walk into the night And it never ends You kept my body so warm As you held me in your arms Wrapped up tight since I was born Pressed against your gentle form Though you kept me safe from harm I cried 'til my throat was sore Tell me what this world is for To be here and then no more Though it never ends I thought that I could feel you And dreams really do come true Used love thinking it was new Even though it was past due Without a warning you flew To perch high in the sky blue As you disappeared from view I could feel the cold renew Cold that never ends Tiny explosions in your eyes I cannot reach a thing so high Lest fires drop straight from the sky It used to rain when you would cry You incinerated these wings Taught this bird to be scared to sing Now Icarus sits a poor thing The pride and downfall of a king Rising from the ashes and flame Feeling so old yet born again Beyond the suffering and pain I hear a familiar refrain Sunshine The Horizon Never Ends All light that will descend rises again Sunshine The Horizon Never Ends Life repeats after death, plays infinite

Moonshine 04:59
Shine bright in the distance, fade until morning, I wanna take you down for myself When you turn around, you got the stars in your eyes Tiny embers blinking softly My gaze is fixed upon you in the dead of night I could watch you like a movie Shine bright in the distance, fade until morning I wanna take you down for myself (I wanna take you) far away from the reach of human touch An elusive unattainable body Held captive by the heavens, a diamond in the rough I wanna set you free Shine bright in the distance, fade until morning, I wanna take you down for myself

about

The debut full-length album from Calgary prog rockers Diatessaron is a fiercely emotional journey through the stages of loss and recovery. Lead single "All The Way" is a Motown-inflected pop song about passage into the afterlife, while "Sky Blue" is a frenetic number about coping with the loss of a loved one. At the heart of the album is the "Sunshine" trilogy, a set of songs that gradually weave together a fractured melody for a final, joyous refrain. It is a slow transformation that assures time heals all, just as the dusk is erased by dawn.
